EMD 12-710G3A LATE EXH T HEP N XL L M4

The EMD F59PHI is a common diesel-electric locomotive on passenger trains in North America, built originally by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD), now built by the successor company, Electro-Motive Diesel, which is owned by Progress Rail Services, itself a division of Caterpillar.

First built in 1994, the locomotive is a 3,200 hp (2.4 MW) B-B diesel-electric locomotive intended for service on North American mainlines. This locomotive is equipped with a turbocharged EMD 12-710G3C-EC, more…

The EMD 645 series was an evolution of the earlier 567 series and a precursor to the later 710 series. When the 645 prime mover entered production in 1965, a large series of new locomotive models was introduced. The turbocharged version was used in EMD's 40 Series (GP40, SD40 and SD45) in 3,000 horsepower (2,200 kW), sixteen-cylinder form and in 3,600 horsepower (2,700 kW), twenty-cylinder form. EMD also introduced the Roots-blown 38 Series (GP38, SD38) and turbocharged, twelve-cylinder 39 more…

ALCO 16-251E N XL L M4

The ALCO 251 prime mover was the most popular and abundant prime mover ever made by the company. While it proved to be quite successful, it sadly outlived its original manufacturer. ALCO closed their doors in 1969. The 251 prime mover is actually still available to purchase today from Fairbanks Morse for use in marine, generator and locomotive uses.

Our recording is from a 16cyl - 251E and could be found in the following locomotives:

M630, M60W, C636, M636

The SD60E program was designed to upgrade 1980's SD60s with current electronic controls and crash-worthiness upgrades in Norfolk Southern's Juniata shops in Altoona PA.

The rebuilds receive a Tier 0+ 16-710G3B prime mover rated at 4,000 hp, compared to the standard SD60's 3,800 hp. Along with the HP upgrade they also received all new wiring and EMD's EM2000 microprocessor controls. These new controls altered the notching slightly in these rebuilt locomotives.

The Baldwin AS-616 was a diesel-electric locomotive of the road switcher type rated at 1,600 horsepower (1,200 kW), that rode on three-axle trucks, having a C-C wheel arrangement.
Nineteen railroads bought 214 locomotives, and two railroads bought seven cabless B units.
Used in much the same manner as its four-axle counterpart, the Baldwin AS-16, though the six-motor design allowed better tractive effort at lower speeds.

The GE Dash 8-32B (also classified as B32-8 or D8-32B by some railroad companies) is a 4-axle 3,150 hp (2,350 kW) diesel-electric locomotive built by GE Transportation Systems between 1984 and 1989. It is part of the GE Dash 8 Series of freight locomotives.

A total of 49 examples of the Dash 8-32B model were built for North American railroads. The model is a 12-cylinder version of the (16 cylinder) Dash 8-40B and is powered by GE's 7FDL engine. The first units built for the Burlington Northern more…

The GE Dash 8-32BWH, also known as the P32-8BWH, B32-8WH, or P32 DASH-8, is a passenger train locomotive used by Amtrak, based on GE's Dash 8 series of freight train locomotives. Built in 1991, they were the first locomotives purchased to replace the EMD F40PH.

The Dash 8-32BWH operates in a diesel-electric configuration that uses DC to power the traction motors, producing 3,200 hp (2,400 kW) at 1047 rpm. When providing head end power to the train, the engine is speed locked to 900 rpm. Power more…

The EMD 645 family of diesel engines were designed and manufactured by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors. The 645 series was an evolution of the earlier 567 series and a precursor to the later 710 series. The 645 series engines entered production in 1965. All 645 engines utilize forced induction, with either a Roots blower or a turbocharger. The 645 series has a maximum engine speed of between 900 and 950 revolutions per minute (rpm), an increase over the 800 to 900 rpm maximum more…
