Turmtriebwagen 701 DRG N XL L M4

The German Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft DRG ordered six samples of electric driven tower cars for maintainance of catenary between 1929 and 1933. The vehicles delivered 105 kW and reached a maximum speed of 65 km/h if driven full electric under wire. During work at catenary the traction motor was powered by batteries.

RhB Ge 4/6 N XL L M4

In 1913 the Rhetian Railway (RhB) of Switzerland needed eight electric locos for their first AC line between Samedan and Scuol. The assembly had been done by SLM in Winterthur. The four driven axles are connected by side rods. Wheel arrangement is 2-8-2. With a tractive power of 1280 HP the loco reached a maximum speed of 34 mph. The last of the very successful locos had been taken out of service in 1984. In Swiss depot in Samedan 353 is still operated for fan trips

BR98.8 N XL L M4

Deutsche Bundesbahn

All 45 98.10 locomotives were recovered after 1945 by the Deutsche Bundesbahn, and continued to be used exclusively in their native Bavaria. Though the locomotives were initially indispensable, they were put out to pasture after the advent of the "Roter Brummer" rail bus, especially those used in passenger train service. Many of the locomotives were still used after this time, in freight service especially. DB did not make any more major changes or improvements; in the late more…

E44.5 / BR144.5 N XL L M4

For electric service on Bavarian mountain line Freilassing – Berchtesgaden German Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft DRG ordered eight samples of electric E44.5. The four-axle loco developed 2000 kW and reached a maximum speed of 90 km/h.

For electric service on Bavarian mountain line Freilassing – Berchtesgaden German Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft DRG ordered eight samples of electric E44.5. The four-axle loco developed 2000 kW and reached a maximum speed of 90 km/h.

RhB Te 2/2 N XL L M4

In 1946 Swiss narrow gauge Rhaetian Railway RhB received three samples of electric shunting locos Te 2/2. The locos developed 230 kW and reached a maximum speed of 30 km/h. After at least 60 years in service, the locos were scrap between 2006 and 2008.

Re 4/4 II N XL L M4

During 21 years Swiss State Railway SBB ordered 276 samples of four axle electric loco Re 4/4 II. The four motor units develop 4700 kW and reach a maximum speed of 140 or 125 km/h depending on gearing. During the 1990 the locos were renumber for Re 420 and Re 421.

BR 185.2 AC2 N XL L M4

For medium freight service Bombardier Transportation of Germany developed a four-axle electric loco BR 185.2. The sound of the second-generation Traxx-locos is slightly different of the first series because of electrical equipment. The locos develop 5600 kW (multi-current locos develop 4000 kW under DC catenary) and reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h.
