ÖBB 2016 Hercules / ER20 N XL L M4

Austrian State Railways ÖBB was first Siemens customer for diesel-electric mainline diesel loco Eurorunner ER 20. Between 2002 and 2011 manufacturer delievered 181 samples to ÖBB and several european private owners. The MTU 16 V 4000 R41 develops 2000 kW and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 140 km/h.

Köf III N XL L M4

Vossloh G1700-2 BB N XL L M4

Starting in 2002, Vossloh developed the four-axle diesel-hydraulic G1700-2 BB for heavy shunting and medium-duty freight train service. The Caterpillar 3512B diesel engine was customized to deliver 1700 kW at 1800 rpm. The transmission came from the more powerful G2000 with only two converters and a mechanical shift stage. After stricter exhaust gas values had been in effect since the early 1990s, it was clear that the 218 that were due for reengineering can no longer be equipped with the exhaust-optimized 12-cylinder diesel engine 12 V 956 TB11, as this no longer complied with the limit values. Between 2002 and 2011, the Swiss Federal Railways SBB and Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon BLS purchased a total of 79 units of the Am 843 series from Vossloh for the heavy shunting and handover service. The Caterpillar diesel motor delivers 1500 kW and accelerates the locomotive top speed to a maximum of 100 km/h at 1800 1/min.

Between 1963 and 1992 Polish manufacturer Fablok built 1822 samples of hood style diesel electric freight loco SM 42. Additional 268 units (SP42) were ordered with steam heating boiler for passenger train service. The eight cylinder prime mover develops 800 HP and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h.

ÖBB 2070 N XL L M4

At the beginning of the 2000s, the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB ordered 90 class 2070 shunting locomotives, nick-named Hector, from German Vossloh. The 12-cylinder diesel engine from Caterpillar develop 738 kW at 2100 rpm. The top speed is 100 km/h. These locomotives, which MaK calls Type G 800 BB, form the basis of the fourth type of the manufacturer. The locomotives are used in heavy shunting operations and pull regional freight trains.
