CP 2500/2550 H0 N XL L M4

In 1956 State Railway of Portugal CP ordered 15 samples of four-axle electric loco Série 2500. The four motors speeded the loco up to 120 km/h.

V90 (MTU-12V-652) H0 N XL L M4

In the 1960s the German State Railway (DB) replaced old fashioned steam locos in heavy shunting service. The total new dieselhydraulic V90 is driven by a 12 cyl engine MTU MB 12 V 652 TA that delivers 1100 HP at 1400 rpm. The locos have a maximum speed of 80 km/h. In the 1980s DB installed shunting couplers and a radio control in the now called BR 290 and renumbered them in BR 294. Many of the very dependable locos are still in service.

RhB Ge 4/6 H0 N XL L M4

In 1913 the Rhetian Railway (RhB) of Switzerland needed eight electric locos for their first AC line between Samedan and Scuol. The assembly had been done by SLM in Winterthur. The four driven axles are connected by side rods. Wheel arrangement is 2-8-2. With a tractive power of 1280 HP the loco reached a maximum speed of 34 mph. The last of the very successful locos had been taken out of service in 1984. In Swiss depot in Samedan 353 is still operated for fan trips

RhB Ge 2/4 H0 N XL L M4

In 1913 Swiss narrow gauge Rhaetian railway RhB ordered seven samples of small electric loco Ge 2/4. The locos are equipped with side rods and deliver 228 kW. For additional tractive effort, RhB increased power up to 450 kW at two locos. So the maximum speed increased from 45 to 55 km/h.

BLS Ae 6/8 H0 N XL L M4

For heavy freight and passenger service on famous Loetschberg-Bahn of Switzerland BLS ordered four samples of 2-6-6-2 electric locos Ae 6/8 in 1939. The motors develop 4400 kW and enable the locos to reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

MaK DE 1002 (MTU-12V-396) H0 N XL L M4

Diesel electric loco DE 1002 of German manufacturer MaK is a reliable design for medium freight service of private owners. The 12-cylinder diesel prime mover develops 1120 or 1320 kW at 1800 rpm and enables the DE 1002 to reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h. The 24 locos are delivered between 1982 and 1988.

In 1932 German Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft DRG received 1st of 174 samples of four-axle electric loco E44. The four motors delivered 2200 kW and enabled the E44 to reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h. The reliable locos rested in service at DB until 1985, last DR locos quitted service in 1991. For electric service on Bavarian mountain line Freilassing – Berchtesgaden DRG ordered eight samples of electric E44.5. FO/MGB Deh 4/4 I/Deh 4/4 II H0 N XL L M4

In 1972 Swiss narrow gauge Railway Furka-Oberalp-Bahn FO received five four axle electric locos with luggage compartment. The four motor locos developed 1032 kW and reached a maximum speed of 60 km/h in adhesion drive and 30 km/h using rack drive.

BR265 H0 N XL L M4

For heavy switching and freight service German State Railway DB ordered 31 samples of diesel hydraulic Voith-Gravita® loco. Prime mover MTU 12V 4000 R43L delivers 1800 kW at 1800 rpm and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. Also loco rental service Northrail and HzL in Southern Germany bought two samples each.
