V 60 N XL L M4

ESU V60

Den schweren Rangierdienst more…

ESU BR 215 - 16V N XL L M4

The classes (BR) 215 and 216 diesel locomotives of the Western German Railway (DB) are used in mixed service since 1960. All 216 and 215 011 bis 070, 091-150 were equipped with a 16 cylinder 4 stroke main Diesel from Mercedes, Maybach or MTU that was later called MTU MD 16 V 652 TB that generates 1900 HP for traction. Also BR 217 had this Diesel for traction but with electrical steam heating. 215 and 216 had a steam boiler OK 4616 made by Hagenuk (licence given by Vapor Heating). A quite more…

Class 77 N XL L M4

The 140 km/h fast electric motor coaches of the Talent series also run in the suburban traffic of the greater Linz region (Austria). The trains delivered by Bombardier to the ÖBB in 2007 have proven to be worthwhile but many passengers bemoan the loss of the old coaches due to their more comfortable seats and better riding comfort. In the meantime, ÖBB have responded to some points of criticism. For example, the noise of heating and air-conditioning systems more…

Talent 644 H0 N XL L M4

The various railcars Talent are often called the “regional ICE” because of the way they look. The front ends of the ICE and Talent are very similar in looks, which is probably no accident, because an appealing appearance is always a good sales argument. 644 series diesel-electric railcars were delivered before the diesel-mecha-nical 643 series “Talents”. They are designed for municipal railway services around Cologne and have 1,000 kW engine power (compared with the 643’s 570 kW). In more…

electric locomotive EG1 of the Royal Bavarian Stat Railroad, aka E73

The two Bavarian EG 4 X 1/1 still existed after the First World War and had been taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn district management of Bavaria. V100 N XL L M4

The diesel locomotive V100 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) had been developed in the late 1950s to replace the Prussian steam locos BR 38.10-40, BR 55 and 78. The locos had 12 cylinder four stroke motors with 1100 HP of MAN, Mercedes-Benz or Maybach. A pair of those motors also worked in the famous V200. The DB found out that the motors were not strong enough for some service so the DB ordered a stronger version of the V100.10 (later numbered as BR 211) named V100.20 (later BR 212). The 212 had more…
