RhB ABe 8/12 N XL L M4

In 2010, a new era started with the year´s summer timetable among RhB´s rolling stock: the first 15 copies of the three-part “Allegra” dual-voltage railcars, ordered from Stadler, replaced some of the locomotives which had seen better days.
The powerful and air-conditioned ABe 4/8 3501-3515 can be either used on the main line´s AC system or the DC-powered “Bernina” line.
With further procurements, the operational concept of locomotive-drawn trains has changed with the exception of the Albula more…

RhB G 4/5 N XL L M4

In the early 1900s narrow gauge railway RhB of Switzerland needed stronger locos. Swiss locomotive manufacturer SLM Winterthur built 29 samples of 2-4-0 locos G 4/5. The locos deliver 800 HP and reach a maximum speed of 45 km/h. After electrification of the whole rail net RhB sold or scrapped the locos except for two samples that rest in Switzerland for snow clearance duty or for railfan trains.

RhB Ge 4/4 II N XL L M4

The Rhetian Railway (RhB) of Switzerland ordered 23 four axle electric locos Ge 4/4 for the meter gauge Stammnetz at SLM in 1973. The 1700 kW locos reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h and are used for passenger and freight service.

RhB Ge 4/6 N XL L M4

In 1913 the Rhetian Railway (RhB) of Switzerland needed eight electric locos for their first AC line between Samedan and Scuol. The assembly had been done by SLM in Winterthur. The four driven axles are connected by side rods. Wheel arrangement is 2-8-2. With a tractive power of 1280 HP the loco reached a maximum speed of 34 mph. The last of the very successful locos had been taken out of service in 1984. In Swiss depot in Samedan 353 is still operated for fan trips

RhB Gem 4/4 N XL L M4

For use under wire as a standard electric loco and to push snow plow Swiss Rhetian Railway (RhB) ordered two hybrid diesel electric locos Gem 4/4 in 1968. A 12 cylinder Cummins diesel motor generates the energy for the four electric traction motors. In both mode of operation the locos reach a maximum speed of 65 km/h.

RhB Gmf 4/4 N XL L M4

For traction of trains for construction areas Swiss Rhetian Railway (RhB) ordered two diesel electric Gmf 4/4 242 and 243 at German manufacturer Kaelble-Gmeinder. The four axle locos are driven by a Caterpillar 12 cylinder prime mover 3412 DI-TA and reach a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

RhB Gmf 4/4 II 234 01-234 04 N XL L M4

For use with heavy maintenance trains Swiss narrow gauge line RhB ordered 4 samples of diesel electric Gmf 4/4 II loco at German manufacturer Schalker Eisenhütte. Prime mover MTU 12V 4000 R43L delivers 1800 kW at 1800 rpm and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h.

RhB Te 2/2 N XL L M4

In 1946 Swiss narrow gauge Rhaetian Railway RhB received three samples of electric shunting locos Te 2/2. The locos developed 230 kW and reached a maximum speed of 30 km/h. After at least 60 years in service, the locos were scrap between 2006 and 2008.

RhB Tm 2/2 20 H0 N XL L M4

In 1962 Swiss Rhetian Railway ordered two diesel electric shunting locomotives Tm 2/2 at Raco/SLM. In 1990 the locos received new Cummins 4BT 3.9 84 HP prime movers and RhB re-numbered them 19 and 20.

RhB Xe 4/4 23201 N XL L M4

In 2012 swiss Rhetian Railway RhB re-designed two of their electric railcars ABe 4/4 II for service railcars with repair shop interior. The two cars were re-numbered for Xe 232 01 and Xe 272 01. The four motor units reach a maximum speed of 65 km/h.
