BR120DR /V200DR/Taigatrommel N XL L M4

For heavy freight service East German Deutsche Reichsbahn DR ordered 378 samples of diesel electric locos V200 (later BR 120, from 1990 on classified as BR 220). The 14D40 2-stroke prime mover develops 1471 kW at 750 rpm. Maximum speed was 100 km/h. As the locos were very loud people nick-named them Taigadrum.

ADtranz DE AC33C Blue-Tiger N XL L M4

With diesel-electric Blue Tiger DE-AC 33C German ADtranz entered the market of heavy freight diesel locos in 1996. After delivery of 30 samples for Pakistan and 20 for Malaysia another 10 were ship to some private railroads in Germany. The prime mover GE 7FDL 12 EFI delivers 2460 kW at 1050 rpm and produces the energy for the six traction motors GE GEB 15. The loco reaches a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

V80 N XL L M4

The German federal state railway (DB) purchased ten samples of the class V80 diesel locomotive with hydraulic drivetrain in 1952. The four axle diesel for light branch and main line service were equipped with one diesel motor of Mercedes Benz, MAN or Maybach that delivered between 800 and 1000 HP. The motors had been interchangeable also between rail diesel cars VT 08, VT 11.5 and the famous V200 class. VT 98 N XL L M4

VT 98 of German State Railway DB is a two motor two axle diesel railcar that had been built between 1953 and 1962. Each motor delivers 150 HP. Transmitted by manual 6 speed gearbox the railcars reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h. In 1938 German „Wehrmacht“ received first samples of three-axle shunting locos for service in military facilities. The units were powered by six-cylinder diesel MWM RHS235S or KHD V6M436. The side rod equipped locos reached a maximum speed of 55 km/h at 700 rpm. For traction of heavy trains all locos were equipped with a double-unit-control.
