BR132 DR/BR232 N XL L M4

The most famous East German diesel loco is the 132. The six axle diesel electric loco is nicknamed “Ludmilla” by train fans. 709 samples of the 3000 HP locos had been delivered by Lokomotivfabrik Woroschilowgrad in Lugansk (Soviet Union today Ukraine) between 1973 and 1983 to the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR). Class 56 N XL L M4

Between 1976 and 1984, British Rail had 135 examples of the six-axle class 56 freight locomotive built. The final production of the first 30 of the series created according to BR plans was carried out with sub-assemblies in Romania at Electroputere. The following locomotives were assembled in England. Class 59 N XL L M4

Only 15 examples of the Class 59 were built for various British freight companies. The construction logistics company Foster Yeoman took over one example in 1997 and had it converted for use in Germany. In 1999 HHPI took over the machine. Technically, the Class 59 with its 2500 kW EMD 16-cylinder 2-stroke diesel engine is a close relative of the US bestseller SD40-2. The maximum speed is 97 km/h, five locomotives are approved for 120 km/h. There is no train heating system on board.

DB V 60 N XL L M4

Zu Beginn der 1950er-Jahre musste die junge Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) ihre Lokomotivflotte erneuern. Neben Streckenloks kamen auch Rangierloks auf die Reißbretter. Für den leichten Rangierdienst gab es etwa 500 Exemplare der Kleinloks der Typen Kö/Köf. E03 / BR 103 N XL L M4

In 1965 German Deutsche Bundesbahn developed a six axle electric loco for fast passenger service. The unique design made the E03 (later 103) for the most famous German electric loco. All sample of the three designs reached a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Although they were developed only for light trains the 103 succeeded in heavy intercity service for more than 30 years.

E10 / BR110 N XL L M4

For passenger service on main lines German Deutsche Bundesbahn DB received electric loco E10 001 in 1952. The four axle loco developed 3680 kW and reached a maximum speed of 130 km/h.

E32 / BR 132 N XL L M4

In 1924 German Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft DRG received the first sample of side rod equipped electric loco E32. The 29 locos developed 1170 kW and reached a maximum speed of 75 km/h. In the 1930s eight locos were re-geared for a maximum speed of 90 km/h. In 1971 the last remaining locos quitted service at the DB.
