MOB BCFe 4/4 7-20 N XL L M4

Starting in 1904, the Montreux-Berner Oberland-Bahn (MOB) purchased fourteen four-axle electric railcars from SIG, which were intended for use on the two newly opened routes Montbovon - Château-d'Oex - Gstaad and Gstaad - Zweisimmen. The meter-gauge railcars developed 192 kW and reached a top speed of 45 km/h, which was later increased to 50 km/h. In the course of their long service life, often only some of the vehicles were subjected to various conversions. For example, four vehicles received more…

MOB GDe 4/4 N XL L M4

The meter-gauge Montreux-Oberland Bernois MOB purchased four copies of the four-engine GDe 4/4 electric locomotive, two further went to the Chemins de fer fribourgois Gruyère-Fribourg-Morat GFM. The latter sold their two locomotives to the MOB in 2007. The 1053 kW strong and 100 km / h fast four-axle vehicles for the 900 V direct current system have been given a luggage compartment in the middle to save separate luggage car in the Panoramic Express. Between 1983 and 2010, locomotive 6003 held more…

MOB Ge4/4 III N XL L M4

Swiss Montreux-Berner Oberlandbahn MOB ordered four samples of electric Ge 4/4 III for their narrow gauge lines. The locos develop 2000 kW. The maximum speed of 120 km/h is not used during operation.

Nohab N XL L M4

In the early 1950s swedish NoHAB Corporation had built EMD locos as licence product s for European market. The locos called NoHABs had been used for passenger and freight service in Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Luxemburg and Norway. After exmatriculation at the state railways, many of the locos had been sold to private owners and came e.g. to Germany. The locos are driven by a 16 cyl. 2 stroke diesel engine and reach a maximum speed of 135 km/h.

ÖBB 2070 N XL L M4

At the beginning of the 2000s, the Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB ordered 90 class 2070 shunting locomotives, nick-named Hector, from German Vossloh. The 12-cylinder diesel engine from Caterpillar develop 738 kW at 2100 rpm. The top speed is 100 km/h. These locomotives, which MaK calls Type G 800 BB, form the basis of the fourth type of the manufacturer. The locomotives are used in heavy shunting operations and pull regional freight trains.

RhB ABe 4/16 Capricorn N XL L M4

To increase frequency on the meter-gauge main network, the Rhaetian Railway RhB ordered 56 units of the four-car ABe 4/16 multiple unit from Stadler. The four electric traction motors installed in one of the end cars produce a total of 1400 kW and accelerate the trains to a design speed of 120 km/h. Up to four units can be coupled in regular operation. The main routes are Davos – Filisur and Chur – Ilanz – Disentis, which are traveled at a maximum speed of 100 hm/h. At 163 km/h, a Capricorn more…

RhB ABe 4/4 II 41-49 N XL L M4

Since nearly 50 years Swiss narrow gauged Rhaetian Railway (RhB) uses their four axle electric railcars ABe 4/4 II. Four traction motors deliver 940 HP and enables the railcars to reach a maximum speed of 65 km/h. Four of the nine cars are still in use, two of them can be seen daily with nearly any kind of train.

RhB ABe 4/4 III N XL L M4

Swiss Rhetian Railway (RhB) received six samples of four axle electric railcar ABe 4/4 III. The railcars develop 1016 kW and reach a maximum speed of 65 km/h. For traction of longer trains the Abe 4/4 III can operate with older ABe 4/4 II or dual mode locos Gem 4/4.

RhB ABe 8/12 N XL L M4

In 2010, a new era started with the year´s summer timetable among RhB´s rolling stock: the first 15 copies of the three-part “Allegra” dual-voltage railcars, ordered from Stadler, replaced some of the locomotives which had seen better days.
The powerful and air-conditioned ABe 4/8 3501-3515 can be either used on the main line´s AC system or the DC-powered “Bernina” line.
With further procurements, the operational concept of locomotive-drawn trains has changed with the exception of the Albula more…

RhB Be4/4 511-514 N XL L M4

Starting in 1971, the Rhaetian Railway RhB procured four three-car Be 4/4 electric multiple units, primarily for suburban traffic in Chur. At the time, the four-motor push-pull trans trains were the first traction vehicles in Switzerland to have thyristor control. The 784 kW strong reached a top speed of 90 km/h. In addition to an electro-pneumatic air brake, the three-part vehicles also decelerated with the electric regenerative brake. In 1979, the RhB ordered two more, largely identical more…
