BR Class 66  LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds N XL L M4

The Class 66 was created as a further development of the Class 59, of which only 15 were procured. 480 examples of the development originally commissioned by the English, Welsh & Scottish Railway were made for the British market alone. The 2400 kW powerful EMD type 12N-710 twelve-cylinder two-stroke diesel engines generate the energy for the six EMD-D43TRC traction motors. The top speed is 120 km/h. There is no train heating system on board. From 2012, the British railway company GBRf imported more…

BR 66 (DB)  LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds N XL L M4

The BR 66 had been a completely new design of Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1955. The two cylinder loco developed 1170 HP and reached a maximum speed of 100 km/h. It showed an excellent acceleration and tractive power but as DB switched motive power to diesel and electrics only two samples are built.

CP Class 1400  LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds N XL L M4

The Série 1400 are a series of 67 diesel-electric locomotives built for the Portuguese Railways (CP) between 1967 and 1969. They have a top speed of 105 km/h. They were ordered primarily to replace steam locomotives then still in use on CP. Designed and engineered by English Electric, they are closely modelled mechanically on the British Rail Class 20 locomotives but using a more powerful 8CSVT 1330 bhp engine. The locomotives were designed for the 1668mm (5' 5⅔") Iberian track gauge and larger more…

Class 56  LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds N XL L M4

Between 1976 and 1984, British Rail had 135 examples of the six-axle class 56 freight locomotive built. The final production of the first 30 of the series created according to BR plans was carried out with sub-assemblies in Romania at Electroputere. The following locomotives were assembled in England. The 16-cylinder Ruston-Paxman 16RK3CT diesel engine produced 2625 kW and generated the power for the six traction motors. In favor of reliability, the power was reduced to 2420 kW at 900 rpm. The more…

Class 59  LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds N XL L M4

Only 15 examples of the Class 59 were built for various British freight companies. The construction logistics company Foster Yeoman took over one example in 1997 and had it converted for use in Germany. In 1999 HHPI took over the machine. Technically, the Class 59 with its 2500 kW EMD 16-cylinder 2-stroke diesel engine is a close relative of the US bestseller SD40-2. The maximum speed is 97 km/h, five locomotives are approved for 120 km/h. There is no train heating system on board.

VT18.16 / BR175 DR  LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds N XL L M4

In 1959, the GDR government decided to develop a four-car diesel-hydraulic multiple unit capable of 160 km/h for international express service. A total of twelve diesel multiple units were built at the Görlitz factory, designated VT 18.16 in keeping with their approximately 1,800 hp output and top speed of 160 km/h. The 12-cylinder 12 KVD 18/21 SVW engines, mounted above the power bogies of the motor cars, were rated at 660 kW on trains VT 18.16.01 and 02; the second engine upgrade, available more…

DB BR 628.0  LokSound 5 factory equipped sounds N XL L M4

As a successor to the now aging railbuses VT98, Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) commissioned the development of the single-car 627 for lightly frequented routes starting in 1970. The two-car 628 was intended to replace the three- or four-car VT98. Delivery of the first pre-production vehicles of both types began in 1974. The 628.0 was powered by air-cooled Deutz F 12 L 413 F engines and the water-cooled underfloor MAN D 3256 BTXU diesel, proven in truck construction. Four additional 628.0s were fitted more…
