V100.20 / BR212  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

In 1962 German State Railway DB ordered 380 samples of dieselhydraulic loco V100.20 (later BR 212). The MB 835 Ab diesel develops 1350 HP at 1500 rpm and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. 10 more locos were equiped with additional brake for service on steep grades. Those locos were named V100.23 (later BR 213).

For Lokprogrammer from version 5.0.9.

ELNA  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

To standardize steam locomotives, the Engere Locomotive Standards Committee (ELNA) was founded in 1917. In addition to the framework conditions for the Einheitslokomotiven of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft DRG, the ELNA also laid down principles for steam locomotives of non-state-owned railways. Three types were developed, of which the 1’C and D versions were by far the most common. Many parts could be exchanged for one another. Since frames, water boxes and driver's cabs were not more…

Dual GE 16-FDL16 2EXH  LokSound 5 North American and Australian Sound files N XL L M4

The GE FDL-16 prime mover was first used in 1959 in the General Electric U25B locomotive. Over the years little changed in terms of sound until the "Dash-8" series of GE locomotives was introduced. Known for their throaty chug and shaft driven compressor (rather than the more modern “Whoop” electric compressor).

Essentially 2 U25Bs built on a single frame, the U50 was designed to replace the turbines on UP. Using scrapped Turbine frames 2 FDL 16 Prime movers were put together creating a 5000 more…

EMD 16-645F3B LATE EXH T  LokSound 5 North American and Australian Sound files N XL L M4

The SD50 was produced in response to increasingly tough competition from GE Transportation Systems, whose Dash 7 line was proving quite successful with railroads. While EMD's SD40-2 was a reliable and trusted product, GE's line included locomotives up to 3,600 hp (2,685 kW) with more modern technology, as well as very competitive finance and maintenance deals. EMD responded throughout the SD50 program by offering discounts on large orders.

GM-EMD had previously produced 3,600 hp (2,685 kW) more…

EMD 12-710G3A LATE EXH T  LokSound 5 North American and Australian Sound files N XL L M4

The EMD GP59 is a 4-axle diesel road switcher locomotive model built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between 1985 and 1989. Power was provided by a 12-cylinder EMD 710G3A diesel engine, which could produce 3,000 horsepower (2,200 kW). This locomotive shared the same common frame with the EMD GP60, giving it an overall length of 59 feet 9 inches (18.21 m). It featured a 3,700-US-gallon (14,000 l; 3,100 imp gal) fuel tank. 36 examples of this locomotive were built including three more…

D&RGW K-27 2-8-2  LokSound 5 North American and Australian Sound files N XL L M4

The K-27 is a class of 3 ft 0 in (914 mm) narrow gauge 2-8-2 steam locomotives built for the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1903. Known by their nickname "Mudhens," they were the first and the most numerous of the four K classes of Rio Grande narrow gauge engines to be built. Of the original fleet of 15 locomotives, two survive to this day and operate on heritage railways in the United States.

Fifteen locomotives were built, originally class 125, they were more…
