In den Jahren 1958 und 1959 beschafften die Belgischen Staatsbahnen SNCB/NMBS bei Cockerill-Sambre 55 Exemplare der vierachsigen dieselelektrischen 201.001 bis 055 (nach 1971: 5901-5955). Der Zwölfzylinder-Dieselmotor BLW 8-608A leistet 1750 PS. Die 120 km/h schnellen Loks hielten sich bis 1988 im Regeldienst.
