The DB Class 202, also commonly referred to under its manufacturers' designation Henschel-BBC DE2500, since it was only in experimental use and never purchased by the DB, is a class of diesel-electric locomotives designed for use on main and secondary lines for both passenger and freight trains.

BR 614  LokSound V4.0 & LokPilot V4.0 for Factory Equipped Locomotives N XL L M4

In 1971 German Federal Railway DB ordered 42 sampels of triple dieselhydraulic railcar VT 614. A MAN diesel motor D 3650 HM 12 U in both of the cab cars developed 331 kW at 2150 rpm. The railcars reached a maximum speed of 140 km/h and were sold or scrapped until 2010.

After nine pre-series locomotives of the diesel-hydraulic series V160 with a complex round front (nicknamed Lollo, after the Italian film actress Gina Lollobrigida), in 1963 Henschel produced the last pre-series locomotive with an angular front, similar to that of the six-axle V320. Common to all pre-series locomotives was the 16-cylinder Maybach MD 870 diesel engine (later renamed MTU 16V 538 TB). The locomotives, equipped with steam heating, developed 1,900 hp and reached a top speed of 120 more…

BR218  LokSound V4.0 & LokPilot V4.0 for Factory Equipped Locomotives N XL L M4

The classes (BR) 215 and 218 diesel locomotives of the Western German Railway (DB) are used in mixed service since 1968. 218 101 to 194, 218 242 to 288 were equipped with a 12 cylinder 4 stroke main Diesel from MAN that was later called MTU 12 V 956 TB10 that generates 2500 HP. The 2800 HP version of this motor is called MTU 12 V 956 TB11. In the late 1980s the exhaust system of BR 218 with the 12 V motor had been optimized. Since 1995 many of the 218 are equipped with motors called "MTU 12 V more…

For heavy freight service East German Deutsche Reichsbahn DR ordered 378 samples of diesel electric locos V200 (later BR 120, from 1990 on classified as BR 220). The 14D40 2-stroke prime mover develops 1471 kW at 750 rpm. Maximum speed was 100 km/h. As the locos were very loud people nick-named them Taigadrum.

BR V80  LokSound V4.0 & LokPilot V4.0 for Factory Equipped Locomotives N XL L M4

The German federal state railway (DB) purchased ten samples of the class V80 diesel locomotive with hydraulic drivetrain in 1952. The four axle diesel for light branch and main line service were equipped with one diesel motor of Mercedes Benz, MAN or Maybach that delivered between 800 and 1000 HP. The motors had been interchangeable also between rail diesel cars VT 08, VT 11.5 and the famous V200 class. In the 1960s the V80 got a MTU MB 12 V 493 TZ diesel that had been used also in V100 class. more…
