Den schweren Rangierdienst more…

The side rod equipped dieselhydraulic V60 (1968 BR 104 – 106, since 1992 BR 344 – 347) had been developed by VEB Lokomotivbau „Karl Marx“ for GDR state railway DR . The traction motors delivered 650 HP at 1500 rpm and enabled the loco to reach a maximum speed of 60 km/h. The non-turbocharged engine 12 KVD 21 SVW is quite similar to the motor of V180/V100.

After the Second World War, various European locomotive manufacturers began developing diesel-electric locomotives, which began to displace steam traction in the USA. In Sweden, Nydqvist and Holm AB (NoHAB) acquired the license to manufacture diesel locomotives for the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) in 1949. The Americans owned an export version of the F-series, which had a driver's cab at both ends. For the lighter superstructure in Europe, locos were equipped qith six instead of four axles. more…

V200.0  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

In early 1950s young German Federal Railway (DB) introduced four axle two motor dieselhydraulic V200. The loco is powered by two 12 cylinder 1100 HP diesel made by Daimler-Benz, MAN or mostly a MD650 made by Maybach. For use in passenger service all locos received steam heating equipment by Hagenuk. With its maximum speed of 140 km/h the locos were used for multi purpose. After around 30 years DB discharged the locos. 13 locos went to Italian users, seven were sold to swiss SBB for traction of more…

V180 DR / BR118 BR228 DB  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

To replace medium-duty steam locomotive series in passenger and freight train service, the Deutsche Reichsbahn DR developed the twin-engine V180 series with diesel-hydraulic drive in the late 1950s. The four-axle vehicles, initially equipped with two 900 hp twelve-cylinder Type 12 KVD 21 A diesel engines, reached a top speed of 120 km/h. The locomotives delivered from 1965 received the second expansion stage of the diesel engine. This also applied to the six-axle versions, which were heavier more…

ET65 DR / BR465 DB  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

For suburban traffic in Stuttgart, the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft DRG initially purchased 21 units of the ET65 electric multiple unit from 1933. The four-axle vehicles with a top speed of 85 km/h initially drove as firmly coupled to the control car. Due to the increased space requirement, the sets in the middle of the train were supplemented by non-powered double wagons. Another, technically unchanged series of 23 powered rail cars and control cars followed in 1938. In the 1960s, the DB more…
