BR261  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

After Millenium the German State Railway (DB) need to order new locos to replace old fashioned shunting locos of Classes 362 - 365 (former BR V60) and 290 - 295 (former BR V90). The German Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik GmbH & Co KG developed the BR261 diesel locomotive. The prime mover of version 10BB is MTU 8V 4000 R42 and develops 1000 kW at 1800 rpm. With a maximum speed of 100 km/h and a tractive power of 258 kN the BR261 is used in heavy shunting service as well as for mid range freight more…

BR38.4  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

The bavarian P 3/5 H had been developed 1921 for medium passenger service but also succeeded in fast train service. Maffei built 80 samples for the Gruppenverwaltung Bayern of the DRG. The 4 cyl loco reached a maximum speed of 90 km/h and could be seen also in front of the famous Orient Express on its way through Bavaria. Last samples of this success loco had been scrapped in 1955.

BR193 - Vectron  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

In 2010 Siemens presented new Vectron family as successor for successful Taurus locos. The customer has the choice between four electric and one diesel electric versions. The locos develop 5200 kW (DC version) or 6400 kW (single AC, DC+AC version). Depending on gear ratio the locos reach a maximum speed of 160 or 200 km/h.

BR 219 / V169  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

In 1965 German DB ordered the first diesel hydraulic locomotive with additional gas turbine power. The V169 001 delivered 3200 HP and reached a maximum speed of 130 km/h. The gas turbine worked automatically when the engineer activated the booster notch while the diesel motor works in (highest) notch 15. In 1974 after around 9 years in heavy passenger service the now called 219 001 had a defective gas turbine so DB dismounted this booster and used the loco for 3 additional years.

BR210  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

In 1970 the German DB built eight four axle diesel locomotives class 210 for heavy passenger service. The locos base on famous dieselhydraulic V160 series and reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The 210 had a MTU MA 12 V 956 TB 10 traction diesel motor and a separately shifted Avco Lycoming licensed gas turbine T 53-L 13. After two heavy defectives DB decided in 1978 to dismount the gas turbines. Till 2006 the locos were used as standard 218 and with the numbers 218 901-908.

Märklin® BR38 P8  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles N XL L M4

The Prussian P8 locos probably is the best known German steam loco ever. At nearly any German territory P8 (later BR 38.10-40) locos had been used often for more than 50 years. The dependable two cylinder locos delivered 1180 HP and reached a maximum speed of 100 km/h. After WW II 1200 locos stayed at DB, another 700 at DR. P8 also had been used in Belgium, France, Greece, Italy, Austria, Poland, Rumania, Czechoslovakia and Turkeye. more…

BR 187 Last Mile Traxx 3  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

For new electric locomotive class 187 Bombardier used its experience with American ALP-45DP locos. The 187 develops 5600 kW in all electric mode and reaches a maximum speed of 140 km/h. A 180 kW diesel motor enables the loco to pull a train upon non-electrified tracks with 50 km/h. The first three samples of class 187 were bought by Railpool leasing company. Those locos were leased to Swiss BLS railway. ===> (swiss radio communication selectable via CV 48 = 1) <===

For new electric locomotive class 187 Bombardier used its experience with American ALP-45DP locos. The 187 develops 5600 kW reaches a speed of 140 km/h. In 2013 German State Railway DB ordered 110 locos for freight service (BR 187.1) and another 20 samples of the version for passenger trains (BR 147) that reaches a maximum speed of 160 km/h. ===> (swiss radio communication and station announcements selectable via CV 48 = 1) <===

BR94.5 pr.T16.1  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

Prussian T16.1 had been one of the most important steam locomotives for short freight and heavy switching duty. The two cylinder loco delivered 1070 HP and reached a maximum speed of 60 km/h. Some locos received a Riggenbach-brake for the use on very steep grades.

BR 245 Traxx DE ME  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

BR 245 is the brand new diesel electric multi-motor loco of German State Railway DB. Based on the electric locos BR 145-185 new 245 shares around 75 % of the parts with them. The four Caterpillar CAT C18 diesel motors develop 563 kW each. The loco is able to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Only sometimes the traction motors need the energy of all of the four motors, so the electronic system decides by itself to start or to switch off motors during operation.
