Responding to user feedback this file uses "Standard North American Function Mapping".

This is a template used for all steam files from ESU LLC.
While we realize most Australian Locomotives do not use Bells or Air Horns they are included in the mapping due to the template used. This is easily changable so the user can set the function mapping work as desired.

4-6-0 Ten-Wheeler  LokSound 5 North American and Australian Sound files N XL L M4

The 4-6-0 represents the configuration of four leading wheels on two axles in a leading bogie and six powered and coupled driving wheels on three axles with the absence of trailing wheels. In the mid 19th century, this wheel arrangement became the second most popular configuration for new steam locomotives in the United States of America, where this type is commonly referred to as a Ten-wheeler. As a locomotive pulling trains of lightweight all wood passenger cars in the 1890-1920s, it was more…

4-12-2 Three Cylinder  LokSound 5 North American and Australian Sound files N XL L M4

The 4-12-2 represents the wheel arrangement of four leading wheels, twelve coupled driving wheels, and two trailing wheels. This arrangement was named the Union Pacific type, after the only railroad to use it, the Union Pacific Railroad.

Only one type of locomotive with a 4-12-2 wheel arrangement was built: the Union Pacific Railroad's 9000-series locomotives, 88 of which were built by ALCO between 1926 and 1930. These locomotives were used to increase the speed of freight trains in flat more…

Class 66 / Class 77  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

BR 52  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles H0 N XL L M4

Two cylinder steam locomotive BR 52 had been developed out of the BR 50 during WWII. With the maximum axle weight of only 15.4 tons and a maximum speed of 80 km/h the 52 had been used for freight and passenger service. After WWII few locos had remained at DB. At DR (GDR State Railway) and many other European state railways the locos stayed in service often till the 1980s.

LGB ABe 8/12  LokSound V4.0 European Soundfiles N XL L M4

In 2010, a new era started with the year´s summer timetable among RhB´s rolling stock: the first 15 copies of the three-part “Allegra” dual-voltage railcars, ordered from Stadler, replaced some of the locomotives which had seen better days.
The powerful and air-conditioned ABe 4/8 3501-3515 can be either used on the main line´s AC system or the DC-powered “Bernina” line.
With further procurements, the operational concept of locomotive-drawn trains has changed with the exception of the Albula more…

Siemens/Krauss-Maffei developed a four-system electric loco on their Eurosprinter platform. Between 2003 and 2005 more than 150 samples left Munich factory. The four-axle loco develops 6400 kW and reaches a maximum speed of 140 km/h. German State Railway DB ordered 100 samples, MRCE another 45. Equipment for 1,5 kV and 3 kV DC enables the locos to operate in nearly any European country. Because of their moderate maximum speed the locos are used in heavy freight service mainly, but some can be more…
