In 1962 German State Railway DB ordered 380 samples of dieselhydraulic loco V100.20 (later BR 212). The MB 835 Ab diesel develops 1350 HP at 1500 rpm and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 100 km/h. 10 more locos were equiped with additional brake for service on steep grades. Those locos were named V100.23 (later BR 213).
F2 & F9 air horns selection (air horn #1 = CV 163 value 0 / air horn #2 = CV 163 value 1)
In 1977, based on the VT 627, the German Deutsche Bundesbahn DB ordered five test vehicles of the four-axle catenary inspection rail car 704. The four-axle vehicles, classed as BR 704, had a diesel-hydraulic power transmission. Propulsion was initially provided by two identical, independent drive systems with Deutz twelve-cylinder diesel engines, one of which was replaced by a more modern and lower-emission Deutz engine from 1986 onwards. The 140 km/h four-axle vehicles were intended to replace more…

Instead of equipping electric locomotives with just a diesel power pack (last mile package), which enables them to be used independently of the driving current, for example on sidings, Stadler developed the EuroDual, which carries a full-fledged diesel engine. The EuroDual, run as the 159 series, runs purely electrically under the 15 kV-16 2/3 Hz system as well as in the AC and DC networks commonly used in France. Depending on the operating mode, traction power between 6150 kW and 7000 kW is more…

The classes (BR) 215 and 218 diesel locomotives of the Western German Railway (DB) are used in mixed service since 1968.
218 101 to 194, 218 242 to 288 were equipped with a 12 cylinder 4 stroke main Diesel from MAN that was later called MTU 12 V 956 TB10 that generates 2500 HP. The 2800 HP version of this motor is called MTU 12 V 956 TB11.
In the late 1980s the exhaust system of BR 218 with the 12 V motor had been optimized. Since 1995 many of the 218 are equipped with motors called "MTU 12 more…
In 1964 series production of dieselhydraulic main line loco V160 of the Deutsche Bundesbahn DB started. The four axle loco was driven by a 16 cylinder diesel motor MB 16V 652 TB. The 1900-HP-locos were used in medium passenger and freight duty and reached a maximum speed of 120 km/h.
For Lokprogrammer from version 5.0.9.
In the early 2000s, the construction company Wiebe acquired the three former DB-216 032, 068 and 122 through several intermediaries. Since the locomotives were no longer to be used for passenger trains, the steam boiler was removed and an additional weight installed as compensation. The ex-DB 216 068 locomotive has the internal number 11, but the number 216 012-1 is written on the outside. Since then, the drive has been provided by a Caterpillar diesel engine of the type 3516 DZ TA with an more…
After at least 15 years of hard service, many TB11 12-cylinder 218 series diesel engines were coming to the end of their useful life. From 1996, MTU switched the production of locomotive diesel motors to the Type 4000, which was available with eight, twelve and 16 cylinders and was much more compact than the massive TB10 and TB11. In the 218, the 16-cylinder MTU 16V 4000 R40 and R41 was used for repowering, of which DB AG ordered 80 units. The engines are set for an output of 2682 hp at 1800 more…
After stricter exhaust gas values had been in effect since the early 1990s, it was clear that the 218 that were due for reengineering can no longer be equipped with the exhaust-optimized 12-cylinder diesel engine 12 V 956 TB11, as this no longer complied with the limit values. MTU therefore took the previous engine block from the TB11 and changed the electronics. The blue paintwork also makes the new motor look different from its gray predecessor. The soundscape of the two TB11 versions differs more…
