E10 / BR110  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

For passenger service on main lines German Deutsche Bundesbahn DB received electric loco E10 001 in 1952. The four axle loco developed 3680 kW and reached a maximum speed of 130 km/h.

BR 120  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

BR 120 had been the first DB loco with 3-phase motors. In 1980 five pre-series locos had been in test service. After many successful test runs e.g. in Austria, Switzerland and Sweden DB ordered another 60 locos in slightly improved design.

BR 141 / E41  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

In 1956 Deutsche Bundesbahn received the first sample of electric E41 (later BR 141) for lite commuter and freight service. The loco delivers 2400 kW and reaches a maximum speed of 120 km/h. Out of the factory any of the locos wore the the equipment for push-pull-service and multi-traction-service. In the late 1980s DB installed modern push-pull-electronics to use with modern S-Bahn and double stack commuter cars. Last 141 quitted service in 2006.

ICE 3 - BR403  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

For high-speed passenger service the German DB AG ordered 50 units of electric trains ICE 3. Delivery started in 1999. Four of the eight cars are motor cars that develop 8000 kW in complete. The ICE 3 reach a maximum speed of 330 km/h. The mono-system trains are numbered Class 403. For cross border service in Belgium, France and the Netherlands another 17 units of four-system train of Class 406.

For new electric locomotive class 187 Bombardier used its experience with American ALP-45DP locos. The 187 develops 5600 kW in all electric mode and reaches a maximum speed of 140 km/h. A 180 kW diesel motor enables the loco to pull a train upon non-electrified tracks with 50 km/h. The first three samples of class 187 were bought by Railpool leasing company. Those locos were leased to Swiss BLS railway. ===> (swiss radio communication selectable via CV 48 = 1) <===

E17 / BR117  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

In 1928 German Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) received 38 samples of electric 2-8-2 loco E17. The eight motor locos reached a maximum speed of 120 km/h and were used by DB untill 1980. DR scrapped the final two locos in 1968.

BR193 - Vectron Last Mile  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

In 2010 Siemens presented new Vectron family as successor for successful Taurus locos. The customer has the choice between four electric and one diesel electric versions. The locos develop 5200 kW (DC version) or 6400 kW (single AC, DC+AC version). Depending on gear ratio the locos reach a maximum speed of 160 or 200 km/h. For shunting service on non-electric tracks users can buy a Diesel Power Module with a 180 kW diesel motor.

E03 / BR 103  LokSound 5 European Sound files N XL L M4

In 1965 German Deutsche Bundesbahn developed a six axle electric loco for fast passenger service. The unique design made the E03 (later 103) for the most famous German electric loco. All sample of the three designs reached a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Although they were developed only for light trains the 103 succeeded in heavy intercity service for more than 30 years.Engineer/driver mode:
