Between 1963 and 1993, the Polish PKP procured 1412 samples of the three-part electric multiple unit EN57 for the 3kV direct current network. The four traction motors in the middle car have an output of 580 kW and accelerate the train to 110 km/h. The technically largely identical series differ from the outside in some cases considerably. After 20 multiple units delivered from the factory as four-car units and designated as EN71, the PKP converted 30 more into four-car units. Manufacturer Pafawag exported EN57 to what was then Yugoslavia.
Heavy load mode:
F5 - Activates load mode, acceleration now takes significantly longer.
Idle mode:
F12 – Activates idle mode. The motor speed goes into idle mode. This simulates, for example, driving downhill or coasting without a trailer load.
Brake functions:
F17 – Brake function 1. Locomotive brakes slowly to a standstill with brake valve sound.
Rail joints:
F27 – Activates rail joints while driving (4 different rail joints with CV164 value 0-3 selectable)
Deactivate brake noise:
F28 – Deactivates the brake squeal when the train stops.

Make sure that index CV31 is set to 16 and index CV32 is set to 1 before changing a volume CV.
