PKP SM42 / SP42 N XL L M4

Between 1963 and 1992 Polish manufacturer Fablok built 1822 samples of hood style diesel electric freight loco SM 42. Additional 268 units (SP42) were ordered with steam heating boiler for passenger train service. The eight cylinder prime mover develops 800 HP and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 90 km/h.

RhB Gmf 4/4 242-243 N XL L M4

For traction of trains for construction areas Swiss Rhetian Railway (RhB) ordered two diesel electric Gmf 4/4 242 and 243 at German manufacturer Kaelble-Gmeinder. The four axle locos are driven by a Caterpillar 12 cylinder prime mover 3412 DI-TA and reach a maximum speed of 60 km/h.

RhB Schöma Tm2/2 111-114 N XL L M4

To modernize the shunting operation, the Rhaetian Railway RhB ordered ten diesel-hydraulic shunting tractors from the German manufacturer Schöma. The vehicles are very similar to the 420 CT 4H type purchased from RACO from 1991. The RhB put the Schöma tractors into operation between 2001 and 2004 as the Tm 2/2 with track numbers 111 to 120. In 1962 Swiss Rhetian Railway ordered two diesel electric shunting locomotives Tm 2/2 at Raco/SLM. In 1990 the locos received new Cummins 4BT 3.9 84 HP prime movers and RhB re-numbered them 19 and 20.

RZD/RZhD ChME3 N XL L M4

In 1963 the Soviet State Railroad ordered a six-axle diesel locomotive with a central driver's cab based on American design principles from the CSSR. These had proven themselves in the Alco-RSD1 delivered to the USSR during World War II. The extremely reliable locomotive is one of the most popular diesel locomotives in the world with 8,200 units. SBB Am 843 N XL L M4

Between 2002 and 2011, the Swiss Federal Railways SBB and Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon BLS purchased a total of 79 units of the Am 843 series from Vossloh for the heavy shunting and handover service. The Caterpillar diesel motor delivers 1500 kW and accelerates the locomotive top speed to a maximum of 100 km/h at 1800 1/min.

For replacement of old fashioned steam shunters Swiss State Railway SBB ordered 46 samples of diesel electric four axled Bm 4/4. The 12 cylinder diesel develops 620 kW and enables the loco to reach a maximum speed of 75 km/h.
